Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

Today was the best early birthday gift my hubby has ever received. Once I FINALLY made it home tonight, he came bounding in the door proclaiming, "This is the best birthday present EVER!!!" You see, there is nothing that my hubby loves more than some snow and ice. He immediately reverts back to a little kid, except he's a little kid who loves to drive around in the snow.

So we're having a big b'day bash at his parents house tomorrow night. They have a full basement under their house and a tent pretty much resides beside the garage at all time...at least for last 5 years or so. So anywho...we're all in the basement getting stuff ready when all the sudden we hear a horrible racket. I'm expecting it to be Rooster and look out the window and say something that shouldn't be repeated on this blog. The weight of the snow had gotten the better of the tent frame and it had collapsed. So for the good and the bad news: Good news is that if he had happened tomorrow night, there could've been almost 100 people under it. The bad news is that Debbie's still pretty darn new Highlander and Ashley's Camry were under it. Both sustained pretty serious blows but we are thanking the good Lord He protected us and all of our friends. Never fear...the party will go on tomorrow night!!!

Here's a picture from the driveway:

Trying not to let the tent incident damper our moods towards the rarity of snow, we headed off to drive around and let Rooster play. Man was it beautiful to see the snow covered fields on a full moon night.

As we're heading back home, we spot some friends pulling out of their house. And then I about die laughing because I realize that behind the truck is another friend skiing on the road. Yup folks, they were street snow skiing. So you know what we did??? We rushed home, threw on some coveralls and headed out to join them.

Here you have it, my street skiing debut:

Unfortunately, Rooster's actual skiing shots didn't turn out so great. Somehow he ended up being the better photographer and that never happens. So here is along with the Hatcher clan trying to squeeze his size 12 foot in some much smaller ski boots. That was just about as funny as watching him actually ski.

Here we are putting on our brave faces before we hit the "slopes". (Thanks for the pic Lucy.)

And lastly, this is Rooster's snow ball that he threatened to throw at me. It was hard as a rock and I'm pretty sure it would've left a mark.

For a bunch of 30 year olds, we sure did enjoy acting like a bunch of kids tonight. Heck, I even threw caution to the wind and didn't get home until 11:00 on a work night. Isn't snow fun!!!!
