During the service, I couldn't help but think of my Goggie and Grandaddy. These two embody what it means to be a servant and to raise your family in the way of the Lord. They both brag on their girls and their families so often and we all always remind them that it started with them. Their girls, son-in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren have never doubted who they lived for or where their loving spirits come from. These two, now 89 and 93 years young, still hold a daily devotional together, are still extremely active in their church and do whatever they can for someone in need.
This Christmas, my whole family is headed to MS to spend 3 days with just the gang. Christmas is about the only time that we are all able to be together under one roof. The family as a whole decided that this year we needed some extra time. Time to spend together, to love, to laugh, and to make memories. You see, these two know where they are headed and they are so ready to be with their Lord. Don't get me wrong, they love their earthly family and treasure each day with us but they also know that He has prepared a place for them.
I guess I write this today for myself, mainly, but also to remind you what Christmas is all about. Without the birth in Bethlehem, without the babe in a manger, there would be no hope, no future. Oh but there is and it is with HIM. So this Christmas, remember that it's not about the presents, the tree, the eggnog or other material things that we tend to focus on. It's about the babe in a manger, the Savior of the world, of these two people and their entire family. I pray that you will slow down and appreciate the family that you spend the holidays with (even if it's the fourth house you've been to in 1 day). As for me and my family, we will be soaking up this Christmas for all its worth!!!
Merry Christmas to you!!!
